Breaking Par: The Quest
A journey in golf
Breaking Par: The Quest
Breaking Par: the Quest is my personal journey in golf. As I started to play golf again I wanted to challenge myself to achieve something within the game. So I decided to try and qualify for a mid-am event. A mid-am event is a Golf Ireland run event for golfers over 30 with a handicap of 5 or below.
I wanted to have some accountability, so I decided to film my rounds of golf and post my scores on social media channels so people could follow my progress. The journey started in April 2022 and at that stage, my handicap was 17.6. To add pressure to the rounds we would play on different golf courses with a member of the club. This put me in a position just like a tournament and pushed me to thrive under pressure.
With the help of my coach Bernard Quigley and the pressure and accountability of the public eye, I was able to drop my handicap to 5.7 by the end of the season. But now, the real challenge begins. Getting under the 5 handicap and hitting scratch then hopefully on to plus figures.
2023 will be a year of golf not to be missed. If you would like to follow the journey I will leave my social links below. Enjoy.

Ireland's Top 100 golf courses
The series
Ireland’s top 100 golf courses is a series where I play Ireland’s top golf courses with a member of the club in a handicap counting round. Ireland has many stunning golf courses and I wanted to show them to the world while adding pressure to my game.
The premise of the show is that the member guides me around a course I’ve never played. If he guides me well and I play well, my handicap will drop. The Quest is all about playing that mid-am and everything on the Quest channel is designed to push my game to the next level.
The Leaderboard Challenge
The series
The leaderboard challenge is all about going low. It’s a series for pros, plus handicaps and scratch golfers. They bring us out on their home course and try to go as low as they can. It’s a fun but intense series that highlights great golfers.
The series also gives me an opportunity to play with amazing golfers and to see what under-par golf actually looks like. But at its core, The Leaderboard Challenge is a place for great golfers to shine and show how good they really are at the game.
The Scratch Match
The series
The Scratch Match is about straight-up matchplay. I take on elite golfers in matchplay format with no shots given. If you ever wanted to improve your golf, this is how it’s done.
Some of these matches take place from the same tee boxes but some I jump to the red tee box. This helps me to learn how to score better but it makes for great viewing as the elite golfer has to chase me.
If you would like us to come and play your course and have a match there, please get in touch and we will try to get there.
